ABOUT the Group

  • The Parent Talk Meetup is an open forum for discussion and support, where foster parents and others can talk and share openly in a safe, private, and supportive space.

  • We plan to have guest speakers to talk about the things that matter most to us. If you have a suggestion, let us know. Guests will be bound by the Parent Talk rules and guidelines.

  • We will be setting a theme for each meeting. The first meeting in February will be introductions, discussion of the rules of conduct, and getting to know one another. At that time, we will discuss and determine, as a group, the central theme for the next meeting.

  • Your private information will be shared with no one, and we suggest you enter online meetings using your first name or a pseudonym to protect your privacy.

rules of participation

These rules were created to create a safe place where members can share their stories and receive support. Therefore, all members and Group Leaders are strictly bound by the following:

  • By signing up for Parent Talk via this page or Facebook Messenger, you agree to follow these important rules and guidelines for participation both while a member and in perpetuity should you leave the group.

  • No politics, "hot topics" or false narratives either in the Zoom meeting or in the Private Facebook Group will be allowed.

  • We expect everyone in the group to be respectful of one another at all times, both during online meetups and in the Private Facebook Group.

  • You may not share the Zoom link with anyone. Only members who sign up via this page or Facebook Messenger may participate in activities. This helps us safeguard the privacy of our members.

  • Should anyone participating in a virtual meeting use or exhibit profanity, racist or prejudicial actions or words, nudity, or any other obscene or degrading language or action, they will be immediately dismissed from the meeting and barred from future participation.

  • You may not post derogatory remarks about any member or share any specific member information, including a member's name or their children's names or the name of any family member or other person they mention during a meeting or in the private online group, on your private social media.

  • Breach of any of these rules may result in a lifetime ban of the member in violation, to be determined by Ruby's Foster Village Executive Director and/or Board of Directors. In most cases and depending on the severity of the violation, violators will receive a warning prior to dismissal and disbarment.

  • All decisions of the Executive Director or Board are final.
